Water is a critical resource for life in Oman. Our economy, our environment and our day-to-day lifestyle need water to flourish. In Oman, water demand is increasing every year. This puts pressure on the water resource and the water production capacity of our assets. Each of us, as little as we seem in the world, can make a difference to protect the water resource for the future generations. Help saving water by applying those little tips for a better place on earth.
In most of the situations, you can reduce the use of water, by:
TURN OFF THE TAP WHEN WASHING
If you’re taking a shower, washing your hands, your hair, or shaving etc. Do not forget to turn off the water while doing so. For example, turning off the water while brushing your teeth can save 25 gallons a month.
Think of reusing water. It helps a lot when it comes to save water. When hand washing your dishes, fill one sink to wash them, and an other to rinse. Don’t waste water by letting the water run. Same for fruits and vegetables; wash them in a pan. At the end of your washing, collect the water to water your houseplants. If you have a swimming pool or fountain, make sure they are equipped with recirculating pumps.
THINK ABOUT THE RIGHT TIME TO USE WATER
Turn on your washing machine or dishwasher only when the machine is full or match the water level to the size of the load. Think of watering your garden in the morning/evening to minimize the evaporation of water and avoid the risk of doing it again.
They are plenty of examples, just be creative and adapt your daily tasks.
But the most important is to aware children (yours like others) and the people who ignore what to do, and why. Taking good habits when young is the best way to ensure you will keep them your whole life.
